Job description

Job Title: In Vivo Research Associate

Location: South San Francisco, CA 94080
Employment Type: W2 Contract – Approximately 15 Months with Possibility for Extensions
Pay Rate: $32.00–$35.38/hour (determined by experience, paid weekly)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Standard 8-hour shift
Work Model: 100% Onsite

Role Overview

BEPC is actively seeking an In Vivo Research Associate to support our client’s research operations in South San Francisco, CA. This laboratory-based position will support small animal in vivo studies, including animal monitoring, dosing, sampling, necropsy, organ collection, dissection, sample processing, and related study activities.


The ideal candidate will have hands-on small animal research experience, including proficiency with common administration routes such as intraperitoneal (i.p.), subcutaneous (s.c.), and oral (p.o.) dosing. This position requires excellent organization, careful documentation, strong teamwork, and a commitment to safe and ethical laboratory practices.

The role may involve work with infectious and/or biohazardous materials and requires flexibility to provide occasional weekend and off-hours coverage.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform small animal in vivo procedures, including animal monitoring, dosing, sampling, necropsy, organ collection, and dissection.
  • Administer compounds using common dosing routes, including i.p., s.c., and p.o.
  • Support the execution of in vivo research studies according to established protocols and laboratory procedures.
  • Process and organize samples generated from in vivo studies.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
  • Maintain accurate and complete study records and laboratory documentation.
  • Clearly communicate study progress, observations, and results to research team members.
  • Support laboratory operations by ordering, receiving, stocking, and maintaining laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain organized and clean laboratory work areas.
  • Autoclave laboratory materials as required.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure necessary materials are available for study activities.
  • Follow established procedures for biohazardous and chemical waste disposal.
  • Work safely when handling infectious and/or biohazardous materials.
  • Collaborate with scientists and other research team members to support study objectives.
  • Provide weekend and off-hours weekday coverage when required.


Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related scientific field.
  • 1+ years of hands-on small animal in vivo experience, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with small animal handling and monitoring.
  • Hands-on experience with animal dosing, sampling, necropsy, organ collection, and dissection.
  • Experience with common administration routes, including i.p., s.c., and p.o. dosing.
  • Ability to accurately collect, organize, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
  • Strong laboratory documentation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of responsibility and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a research team.
  • Flexibility to support weekend or off-hours work when study schedules require it.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to independently design and conduct in vivo studies.
  • Experience with ELISA.
  • Experience with flow cytometry.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques.
  • Familiarity with computational analysis of bulk RNA-seq or single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) data.
  • Previous experience within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated research environment.


Interview Process

The interview process is expected to include two rounds:

  • Round 1: 30-minute interview with the Hiring Manager.
  • Round 2: 60-minute onsite panel interview.
