PAY SCALE: $21.00 - $37.00 per hour, based on experience
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide quality instruction in the fundamentals of Dental Office Assistant.
Schedule: Per Diem - Part-time Evenings. Tuesday and Thursday - Class time 5:30pm-8:30pm
TYPICAL DUTIES:
  1. Prepare syllabus and daily lesson plans and hands-on projects for the practical application of the curriculum
  2. Preparing and delivering instructional material to assist students' learning
  3. Maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress
  4. Provide individual and group instruction in the implementation of the curriculum
  5. Use a variety of instructional strategies to property monitor and assess student performance
  6. Prepare pre/posttests and performance evaluations for students at the completion of each unit
  7. Classes Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-8:30 plus additional hours for planning and grading as assigned
  8. Use relevant technology to support instruction
  9. Maintain and modify curriculum to remain current and up to date
  10. Maintaining accurate and complete records of student attendance and progress throughout the course
  11. Observe and evaluate student performance and development
  12. Order student textbooks, supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for the implementation for the job training program
  13. Provide appropriate safety training
  14. Effective supervision of students
  15. Maintain and modify curriculum to remain current and up to date
  16. Monitor employment tracking of students and assist in collecting placement data
  17. Maintain all safety standards as mandated by OSHA and the BOCES 2 organization
  18. Consistent and effective program recruitment

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification Requirements::
  • NYS Licensed Dental Hygienist or NYS Licensed Certified Dental Assistant
  • 2-5 years current experience working in the field
  • Certificate or Advanced credential
  • Strong knowledge of the content area
  • Teaching experience preferred but not necessarily required

Other Qualifications: Must be able to use computers for attendance, grade management, email, and other applications necessary to fulfill the requirement of the position.
