Job description

Join our team as a Critical Care Intensivist in the San Francisco East Bay, where you will contribute to providing exceptional healthcare and fostering a collaborative environment. This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the community while working within a supportive team that values professional growth and teamwork. We are seeking a dedicated physician to enhance our critical care services and engage in various clinical improvement initiatives.

Practice Info

  • Physicians are involved with numerous work groups, including: Sutter-wide critical care clinical improvement committee, ICU subject matter expert group, code blue committee, pulmonary embolism review committee, ICU celebration of life committee, and more.
  • The Summit campus is a comprehensive stroke center and STEMI center with a robust cardiac surgery program, including a structural heart program.
  • The 36-bed ICU is a mixed unit with medical, surgical, cardiac surgery, and neuro patients.
  • There is a growing VA ECMO program.
  • Work in EPIC, with access to our own internal informatics platform.

Responsibilities

  • Provide critical care intensivist services at the Summit campus, with occasional shifts at the Alta Bates campus.
  • Manage patients in a 36-bed mixed ICU unit, including medical, surgical, cardiac surgery, and neuro patients.
  • Contribute to the growing VA ECMO program.
  • Provide bedside teaching to Internal Medicine residents.
  • Utilize EPIC and internal informatics platform for patient care.

Compensation

  • Competitive hourly compensation with annual income of $361,680 to $394,560 depending on shift commitment.

Shift & Schedule

  • 80-90% of shifts will be at the Summit campus, with occasional shifts at the Alta Bates campus in Berkeley.
  • Average of 11 to 12 shifts per month.
  • Block schedule with roughly 1/3 night shifts.
  • Work together to make a monthly schedule we can all agree upon.

Requirements

  • Board-certified or board-eligible critical care physician (MD or DO).
  • A commitment to excellence in clinical service, with strong problem-solving abilities essential for the ICU setting.
  • Active California medical license.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Not currently considering 2027 fellows.
