What is a dental assistant in training?

Dental Assistants In Training are individuals who are learning the skills and knowledge necessary to become certified dental assistants. They typically work under the supervision of licensed dentists and experienced dental assistants, helping with patient care, preparing instruments, and performing administrative tasks. This role often includes a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on practice in a dental office. Their work is essential for supporting the dental team and ensuring efficient patient care.

What are some common challenges dental assistants in training face during their first few months on the job?

Dental Assistants In Training often find adapting to the fast-paced environment of a dental office to be one of the biggest challenges. To thrive as a Dental Assistant In Training, you need a basic understanding of dental procedures, infection control, and patient care, usually initiated through a high school diploma and enrollment in a dental assisting program. Familiarity with dental software, x-ray machinery, and sterilization equipment is commonly expected.
