Job description


JOB SUMMARY:
Under moderate supervision, plans, develops, and implements techniques and programs to ensure North American (NA) Quality Management Systems (QMS) and quality levels are maintained in alignment with established quality standards. Responsible for defining quality policies, systems, and procedures within a corporate and manufacturing/production environment. Integrates specific internal/external regulations or interprets existing legislation as required. Applies quality systems to ensure manufacturing facilities, support systems, and laboratories meet customer, automotive, regulatory, and organizational quality obligations. Ensures the investigation and trending of quality observations or deviations relating to manufacturing facilities, support systems, or laboratories. Coordinates and conducts process and program audits while developing improvement plans, providing feedback to production and corporate systems functions (i.e., Product Design, Sales, Purchasing, Human Resources, Information Security, Information Technology, Quality, Warranty) for the promotion of quality improvements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads and implements quality improvement special projects. Ensures consistent application of quality practices and tools within North America, including lessons learned at DENSO manufacturing facilities and OEMs.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on DENSO regulations/standards. May be expected to develop and conduct training on such procedures.
  • Analyzes customer and field data, and current/future automotive industry and technology trends outlining current quality issues and quality weaknesses. Evaluates trends and generates recommendations for strategic long-term quality improvements. Presents data to upper management on quality/production needs to improve KPI's.
  • Provides guidance to management in decisions and consolidates in presentations for department meetings. Takes ownership of KPI's and provides future plans to enhance them.
  • Supports assessment of critical quality problems to extract lessons learned and promotes across all sites/manufacturing facilities. Supports continuous improvement activities through creating/delivering training, providing new processes and conducting workshops/meetings with associates. Helps develop new processes and new strategies so lessons learned are not repeated.
  • Expected to adopt Automotive industrial rules & standards while implementing and verifying their compliance with corporate and production plants.
  • Collaborate w/ multiple regions/countries/DENSO plants and promote adoption and adherence to the Centralized Quality Management System.
  • Collaborate w/ multiple regions/countries/DENSO plants to further promote, standardize, adopt and adhere to DENSO's Centralized Audit Management System.
  • Expected to conduct audits for pre-production development in design process and manufacturing of DENSO plants, as with the NA QMS System & DENSO Centralized audit practice.
  • Reports KPI/activity results from manufacturing facilities and DENSO components within vehicle systems to top management on a periodic basis.
  • May act as an advisor or mentor to other professionals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field and
  • 2-5 years of quality assurance or related experience. Knowledge of parts, vehicle systems functionality, and manufacturing quality processes is required.
  • Understanding of automotive manufacturing processes
  • FMEA Experience required
  • APQP, MSA, SPC, PPAP, Control Plan experience preferred
  • Auditing experience preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of parts, vehicle systems functionality and manufacturing quality processes

  • Good written and verbal communication skills to interpret and/or discuss technical or sensitive information with internal and external customers; strong oral presentation skills to maximize the impact of thoughts transmitted
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Negotiation skills to resolve fundamental situations/issues, which may be conflicting in nature, while making point firmly and seeking a positive outcome for both sides
  • In-depth understanding and demonstrated competency in working with computer software and mainframe applications in order to manipulate, analyze, and reconcile data
  • Statistical knowledge with the ability to enhance processes with statistical process control, reliability, and design of experiments
  • Systems Engineering intuition / mindset
  • Good project management skills, including the ability to define program, project or process objectives, identify customers/stakeholders and their interests, plan steps, and coordinate resources to accomplish goals and objectives in a an effective and timely manner
