Job Summary

Assoc Distribution Forestry Coordinator

With input and mentoring from Supervisor and Forestry Coordinators, this role coordinates forestry and right-of-way maintenance activities to ensure reliable operation of distribution lines within their assigned area and throughout the system. Conducts field inspections of forestry contractors, who maintain clearances between vegetation and electrical conductors, to ensure work is completed on schedule and according to company specifications. Conducts field observations and provides feedback to Forestry Supervisor and contractors. Investigates tree-related outages to determine root cause. Works with Supervisor-Electric Distribution Forestry to develop and implement action plans to prevent future outages. Schedules and coordinates right-of-way clearing for new construction projects. Monitors operational costs and performance of forestry contractors who perform unit bid mileage work, time and material tree and brush control work activities, as well as herbicide applications. Makes recommendations for right of way improvements to Supervisor-Electric Distribution Forestry. Responds to customer inquiries and complaints and attends customer-initiated meetings (i.e. Home Owners Associations). Provides assistance to customers regarding electric distribution forestry matters and maintains contact with Local, State, and Federal agencies. Reviews contractor documentation related to safety and billing to ensure accuracy, and approves billing documents. Safely operates vehicles suitable for inspecting rights of way, both on-road and off-road. Facilitates an intradepartmental weekly safety call, as requested by supervisor. Responds to service restoration activities as needed. Works toward successful completion of the Dominion Forestry Training Program, Virginia or North Carolina Herbicide Applicator's License and the International Society of Arboriculture Arborist certification.

Conducts field inspections of forestry contractors, who maintain clearances between vegetation and electrical conductors to ensure work is completed on schedule and according to company specifications.
Conducts field observations and provides feedback to Forestry Supervisor and contractors. Investigates tree-related outages to determine root cause. Works with Supervisor-Electric Distribution Forestry to develop and implement action plans to prevent future outages. Provides cost estimates, schedules and coordinates right-of-way clearing for new construction projects. Monitors and evaluates operational costs and performance of forestry contractors who perform unit bid mileage work, time and material tree and brush control work activities, as well as herbicide applications. Responds to and resolves customer inquiries and complaints. Attends customer initiated meetings (i.e. Home Owners Associations). Provides assistance to customers regarding electric distribution forestry matters. Maintains contact with federal, state, local agencies, professional organizations, and trade and special interest groups. Reviews and approves contractor work documentation related to safety and billing, to ensure accuracy. Safely operates vehicles suitable for inspecting rights-of-way, both on-road and off-road. Facilitates an intradepartmental weekly safety call, as requested by supervisor.
Responds to service restoration activities as needed.
The role may have Non-Dominion Energy Workers (NDEWs) report to them.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

Assoc Distribution Forestry Coordinator

0-2+ years directly related experience;
Knowledge of utility forestry and applications;
Job specifi c knowledge of arboriculture and urban horticulture, and dendrology;
Skills: eff ective written and verbal communications, good customer service, eff ective organizational and project management skills;
Abilities: problem solving and making decisions quickly, and setting priorities

Distribution Forestry Coordinator -

3+ years directly related experience;
Knowledge of utility forestry techniques and applications;
Job specific knowledge of arborculture, horticulture, dendrology, and wood preservation;
Job specific knowledge of herbicide application and tree growth regulators (TGR);
Job specific knowledge of landscape maintenance principles and distribution circuitry;
Skills: effective verbal and written communication, good customer service, effective organizational and project
management;
Ability to solve problems and make decisions independently;
Ability to set priorities

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferres Disciplines: Biology, Environmental Science, Forestry

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Assoc Distribution Forestry Coordinator

Expected to pursue and acquire International Society of Arboriculture Arborist Certification and Virginia or North Carolina Herbicide Applicator's License (both following one year work experience).

Distribution Forestry Coordinator

Required: Virginia or North Carolina Herbicide Applicator's License; International Society of Arboriculture Arborist
Certification. For individuals entering the department, if license and certification are not in place prior to
awarding this position, a plan for obtaining such should be in place within one month, and full certification and
licensure must be achieved within the first year.
