About this position: Senior Payroll Specialist Location – Anchorage, AK

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Handle employee personal information
  • Coordinate with BSNC Shared Services on an as needed basis or per corporate policies
  • Assist with transferring personnel from project to project
  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll for employees.
  • Review and verify employee timecards, attendance records, and payroll data for accuracy.
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and garnishments.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee earnings information.
  • Ensure payroll is processed in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Enter new hire information, pay rate changes, terminations, and other employee payroll updates.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and identify discrepancies for correction.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports for management and accounting teams.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and audits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
  • Support payroll system updates, testing, and process improvements as needed.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Level of Experience Requirements: High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (spreadsheets, pivot tables, filters, formulas, formatting).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience with payroll software such as ADP, UKG, Paycom, Workday, or Ceridian.
  • Knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and tax requirements.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation a plus.
  • Experience with industry applications: HCSS and Costpoint

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements
