Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder's Houston office is currently hiring a Construction Manager - Environmental Remediation / Decommissioning / Demolition. This position requires applying diversified knowledge of principles and practices to a broad range of projects and clients.

Project Location

Project location is Central/South Mississippi.  The ideal candidate would be located in our Houston office; however, the right candidate would be considered from any geography with up to 50% travel to the project location near Jackson, Mississippi.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership and oversight to a group of engineers, scientists, construction managers, contractors and waste disposal facilities who are serving clients in the upstream, midstream, and/or downstream oil and gas and industrial industry
  • Developing strategy, cost estimating and project scheduling for large scale remediation / decommissioning / demolition projects
  • Federal and/or State of Mississippi regulatory expertise and advocacy experience including hazardous waste, naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM), lead-based pant, asbestos, site investigation/remediation and site reclamation experience preferred
  • Resume and experience with demolition planning and waste management planning
  • Experience in demolition onsite waste management, waste profiling, transportation and manifesting and/or waste disposal vendor coordination
  • Resource recovery/monetization of demolition salvage
  • Ability to develop demolition project schedules and sequencing
  • Experience developing demolition plans and bid documents and contractor selection
  • Conducting thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with demolition activities
  • Coordinating with various stakeholders, including engineers, environmental specialists, and regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance with legal and environmental standards
  • Experience with Innovation and new technologies and techniques to improve demolition processes and outcomes.
  • Experience developing strategies to minimize the environmental impact of demolition activities (waste reduction, NORM and proper disposal of hazardous materials).
  • Contractor negotiation and management
  • Familiar with construction and demolition safety programs

Skills & Experience

  • 12+ years working within an industrial, petrochemical or refinery environment
  • 5+ years project management experience and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations required. This experience must include managing and directing professional and technical staff to complete complex construction, engineering and environmental projects
  • Experience preparing bid documents and stewarding the bid process through final selection of contractors for large scale construction projects
  • Confidence evaluating design packages for constructability at large industrial facilities
  • Demonstrated ability to actively develop and maintain client relationships
  • Experience leading successful proposal efforts in excess of $1M and ensuring pursuit teams to make smart business decisions
  • Safety leader that has the ability to implement a behavior-based safety system to deliver projects
