Job description

State Parties are responsible for building infrastructure necessary for successful candidate campaigns up and down the ballot. Over the last few years, Ohio Democrats built a year-round organizing model driven by local community activists and volunteers. Ohio Dems are testing new technology and programs to build a modern, data-driven and nimble force to elect Democrats statewide now and in the future.

In 2026, every statewide office will be on the ballot โ€“ including the governorโ€™s race and a special election to elect a U.S. Senator in the seat currently occupied by appointed Senator Jon Husted. With 3 DCCC Frontline Races to protect and 3 additional seats targeted by the DCCC, the path to a Democratic majority in the U.S. House and Senate will once again run through Ohio in 2026.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Ohio Democratic Partyโ€™s Organizing department is seeking a skilled training and resource management professional. The Coordinated Campaign Training Director will manage and develop tools and processes to support the 2026 Coordinated Campaign in a battleground state. They will work with stakeholders, partners, and campaigns to create, oversee, and support a training program for statewide operations. Responsibilities will generally include:

ROLE OVERVIEW
  • Work with the Organizing Director to develop and execute a comprehensive training program for mid- and entry-level staff, as well as volunteers, on required hard and soft skills
  • Collaborate with Organizing Deputies to address the on-the-ground training gaps of staff and volunteers
  • Create and maintain clear organizational systems for tracking information, daily communications, and deliverables across Organizing verticals
  • Assist in the coaching and development of staff on an as-needed basis, supplementing Organizing leadership management when required
  • Lead regular statewide trainings both in person and virtually, including weekly webinars, staff onboardings, and retreats
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and concepts into digestible training materials for staff of various backgrounds and experience levels
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Understanding of Organizing programmatic goals, strategic imperatives, and ability to coach on the skills required of Field Organizers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced campaign environment, that may require long, irregular hours, including some nights and weekends

The Training Director will be paid a salary of $7,000 per month and full benefits including PTO as needed, health, dental, and voluntary vision insurance. The hourly expectation will fluctuate depending on the campaign cycle, but will be a minimum of 40 hours per week. Housing will not be provided. Applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to Columbus, Ohio.
