Job description

***This job will be located in St. Paul, MN***
Job Title: Pre-Demand Legal Assistant for Consumer Products Department

Job Description:

Johnson Becker, PLLC is committed to protecting the rights of the wrongfully injured and is not afraid to lead the charge against companies who have caused our clients harm. As consumers, we shop in a time of unprecedented options, but we depend on manufacturers to safely manufacture, design and test their products and to provide accurate information and warnings about the safety of their products so that consumers can make the best decisions for themselves and their families. We are looking for a team member with exceptional organizational skills to help us hold these manufacturers accountable when their product – used in their loved ones’ everyday lives – turn out to be unsafe and cause injury.

Johnson Becker is looking for a legal assistant who shares our passion in holding manufacturers of faulty consumer products accountable. Some of the products that you may work on range from exploding pressure cookers or lithium batteries that have started fires to common household products contaminated with bacteria or infant products that have caused deaths. All of our cases are designed to compensate our clients for their losses and to deter manufacturers from selling unsafe products. We are exceptionally proud of the fact that some of our clients’ cases have led to product recalls, heightened regulatory safety standards, and changes in product liability law.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements:

As a Legal Assistant, you would work very closely with the other legal assistants and attorneys in the Consumer Products Department. Your primary responsibility will be to open new case files and prepare them for our demand writers and litigating attorneys. After sufficient training, you will be responsible for interviewing clients, gathering medical records and other relevant documents, processing evidence, and monitoring deadlines. You will also be responsible for communicating with clients via phone calls, emails, and letters to obtain documents necessary for their case and to guide them through the legal process in a professional and helpful manner.

The ideal candidate will possess a high level of organization, ability to promptly initiate and follow through on client contact, and strong sense of empathy. Must be able to work autonomously as well as participate in a collaborative team environment. This is an ideal position for someone who seeks to have hands-on involvement in the beginning stage of a case, ownership in the outcomes of their work, and satisfaction in meeting personal and departmental goals.

Location: Downtown St. Paul

Pay is based on experience.

Hours of work are FULL TIME from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.

Please provide resume and cover letter.

This is an in-office position. Candidates seeking a hybrid or remote position will not be considered.
