Job description

Head of Structuring and FRM

Structured Equity Financing & Swap/D1 Trading

Mizuho is seeking a Managing Director to serve as Head of Structuring and FRM of the Structured Equity Financing business, supporting the continued growth of the Equity Division. The role has primary coverage of Structured Equity Finance, Equity Swaps, Delta One trading, and Structured Lending.

Reporting to the Head of Structured Equity Financing, the position will partner closely with trading, finance, legal and infrastructure leadership to drive business growth through product innovation, balance sheet efficiency, disciplined financial resource management, and execution of highimpact strategic initiatives for automation and AI implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Head of Structuring and FRM

  • Partner closely with the Equities COO and senior trading leadership across Equity Swaps, Delta One Trading, and Structured Lending to develop and execute product and platform strategies aligned with business priorities.
  • lead to new product and platform development, including project management, governance coordination, and implementation oversight for equity financing initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain detailed execution plans for strategic initiatives, working with frontoffice leadership and infrastructure partners including Finance, Treasury, Risk, Technology, Operations, Legal, and Compliance to ensure timely delivery.

Financial Resource & Liquidity Management

  • Oversee and monitor financial resource utilization, including capital (RWA),funding, and inventory associated with equity financing, swaps, and Delta One activities.
  • Work closely with desk heads to set, monitor, and manage financial resource targets, ensuring alignment with firmwide constraints and strategic priorities.
  • Act as the primary advocate for the Structured Equity Financing business on Financial Resources and Liquidity with internal stakeholders including Finance, Treasury, Risk, and senior management, securing appropriate allocations to support business growth.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for financial resource optimization across balance sheet, leverage exposure, funding structures, and return on capital, presenting actionable recommendations to Equity leadership.

Financial Performance & Business Management

  • Monitor and analyze the financial performance of Structured Equity Finance, Equity Swaps, and Delta One businesses, producing realtime and endofday views on funding, liquidity, exposure, and key risk metrics.
  • Partner with business leadership on the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasts, including revenues, expenses, balance sheet usage, and returns.
  • Provide senior management with clear, actionable insights on business performance and emerging trends.

New Product, Platform and Innovation

  • Lead the implementation of in-house development of client trading tools, Portal, Basis Trading System, Desk Tools and AI integration in pricing and risk management tools
  • Lead Cross Product Swap and Futures market making product and
  • Evaluate associated risks, constraints, and opportunities for the Equity platform, and help shape strategic responses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, finance, or a related field.
  • 20+ years of experience in the financial industry, with a strong preference for experience in Equities, Equity Financing, or Prime/Delta One Trading.
  • Ability to code, using automated AI tools and copilot
  • Prior experience in a leadership role supporting frontoffice trading or financing businesses, including roles focused on financial resources, product strategy and AI led product development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial resource management, including balance sheet, leverage exposure, funding, and capital considerations as applied to equity financing activities.
  • Strong product knowledge across Structured Equity Finance, Equity Swaps, Delta One trading, and related financing structures.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to produce highquality materials for senior management and governance forums.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a fastpaced, deadlinedriven environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability, with attention to detail and concise communication skills.
  • FINRA License - 7 and 63 are required

The expected base salary ranges from $250,000- $400,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
