What is Deloitte?
What kind of work does Deloitte do?
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Deloitte consultant, and why are they important?
What is the difference between Deloitte vs CPA?
| Aspect | Deloitte | CPA |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA certification is advantageous but not mandatory for all roles | Must have CPA certification; requires passing the CPA exam and meeting state licensing requirements |
| Work Environment | Professional services firm with client-facing roles, consulting, audit, and advisory services | Primarily accounting, auditing, and tax preparation in various settings including firms, corporations, or government |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Used by Deloitte as a job title for roles involving accounting, auditing, and consulting | Used by accounting firms, corporations, and government agencies for licensed accounting professionals |
While Deloitte offers a range of roles in consulting, audit, and advisory services that may not require CPA certification, the CPA credential is specifically for licensed accountants specializing in accounting, auditing, and tax. Deloitte employees may hold CPA licenses, but not all do. The key difference lies in certification requirements and job focus within the accounting industry.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $113,100 to $208,300.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
