Job description

Warehouse Associate

Apply at www.compostnow.org/about-us/careers Pay starts at $17/hr. Weekly pay. The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday, 7 am - 3 pm. Warehouse associates receive, empty, and sort through containers filled with food scraps. Warehouse associates clean all containers (soaping, washing, rinsing), readying them to be returned to our customers. Warehouse associates prepare finished compost (soil) for delivery to customers. Additional warehouse associate duties include cleaning work vehicles, and maintaining a tidy work environment. This role operates within a dynamic environment where we test and launch new services (examples include scaled composting programs and specialty recycling programs). In addition to core responsibilities, team members in this role are expected to approach operational updates with adaptability and a willingness to learn. These initiatives are a normal and important part of how we improve and expand our impact.

Requirements: Warehouse associates desire a physically active environment: working on your feet and a willingness to work outside in all elements. Warehouse associates are not squeamish: they can be around food scraps, bugs, and the smell of decomposition. Personal characteristics of a warehouse associate: takes direction well, detail oriented, team player, self-motivated, and strong communicator.

Benefits: Weekly pay & stable hours. Health, dental, vision, and accident insurance options. Employer-provided short and long-term disability, and Employee Assistance Program. Paid Time Off (10+ days) and Paid Sick Time (6 days) accrual. Paid Holidays. 401(k). Parental Leave options. Free CompostNow service.

Our mission at CompostNow is to grow the composting movement by making it easy for our members to divert food waste and enrich soils. By hauling food scraps and delivering compost, we do the dirty work for them and ensure success. To build the movement, it is imperative to keep our members happy and ensure they're receiving exceptional value from our commercial and residential services. People work at CompostNow because we give people the benefit of the doubt, we strive for operational excellence, and we treat people as adults. We hold high expectations of ourselves and one another. We choose to grind through with the right people rather than have it easier with people who don't share the same standards.

A quote from an Onsite Operations team member: "I would describe CompostNow's work culture as a pretty employee-centered company, concerned and interested in the people that work for them. I think CompostNow puts a lot of effort into making people feel valued. The pay was very supportive as a living wage. The way that Managers make it clear that they always have time to hear what you want to say, it definitely goes down as one of the places that I've gotten to work at where the employer doesn't just care about their bottom line, which was really nice."

Other Policies: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion A healthy ecosystem is comprised of a diversity of organisms. At CompostNow we strive to create a healthy system that clearly expresses our values, identity, and purpose. We believe that we will accomplish this through having a diverse team, focusing on the fundamentals of creating a good company where everyone feels welcome, seen, safe, heard, and appreciated. Language Proficiency Policy It is the policy of CompostNow to encourage diversity and inclusiveness in all of its operational and corporate pursuits. This includes employing individuals who may speak a language other than English as their primary means of communication. However, there are specific circumstances when the company requires that its employees converse in English. This requirement supports our commitment to employee safety. Circumstances include receiving training, conversing with members, participating in Supervisory one-on-ones and team meetings, and responding to direction in emergency situations. For these reasons, English proficiency is required for the safe and effective execution of job duties within the company and is assessed throughout the application process.
