What are Delivery Surgical Techs?

Delivery Surgical Techs, also known as Surgical Technologists specializing in labor and delivery, are allied health professionals who assist during childbirth-related surgeries, such as cesarean sections. They prepare operating rooms, ensure surgical instruments are sterile, and provide support to surgeons, nurses, and obstetricians during procedures. These techs also help with patient care before, during, and after delivery, ensuring a safe and sterile environment for both mother and baby. Their role is critical in facilitating smooth and efficient surgical deliveries.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Delivery Surgical Tech, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Delivery Surgical Tech, you need a solid understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and instrumentation, usually supported by a surgical technologist certificate or diploma. Attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are vital soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure safe, efficient surgical deliveries and optimal patient outcomes in high-stress environments.
