Overview
CORT Furniture Rental is hiring immediately for full-time Delivery Assistants in Capital Heights, MD!
The Delivery Assistant supports the driver with all non-driving tasks, including loading and unloading materials, securing product loads, cleaning and assembling furniture, serving as a trained spotter for truck backing, and assisting with navigation and customer interactions. They help maintain the truck, ensure all necessary items are on board, and handle any ancillary tasks related to deliveries and pickups. This role is essential for efficient and safe delivery operations, contributing to a positive customer experience.
Pay: $18.50 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:AM- 4:PM Monday-Friday. Saturdays may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect furniture to ensure acceptable condition for delivery prior to loading truck.
  • Manually load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, and docks.
  • Ensure the truck is loaded safely to protect products from damage during transport.
  • Assist with the delivery and pickup of furniture; help with moving, setting up, cleaning/touch-up, and breaking down furniture at delivery sites while ensuring safe handling.
  • Assist the driver with navigation, parking, and spotting for backing up the truck.
  • Call customers prior to deliveries and interact with them during deliveries, providing world-class customer service.
  • Assist with completing and reviewing delivery paperwork and electronic driver logs.
  • Maintain communication with dispatch and warehouse to report any issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Perform warehouse duties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Reliable transportation
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • General labor experience; furniture or delivery experience preferred
  • Physically able and willing to move furniture indoors, outdoors, up or down stairs and in all weather conditions; ability to lift 100+ pounds with a partner
  • Must pass drug screening (does not include THC) and MVR checks as a condition of employment. CORT also participates in the E-Verify program.
