Position Summary

The Deli Clerk / Kitchen Staff is responsible for preparing high-quality food items while maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment. This role ensures all food preparation, storage, and service areas meet company standards and comply with food safety and health regulations.

The Deli Clerk supports daily kitchen operations by preparing food, maintaining food safety standards, cleaning kitchen equipment, and providing friendly customer service within the deli or quick-service food area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve fresh deli and prepared food items according to company recipes and culinary standards
  • Maintain consistent food quality, portioning, and presentation standards
  • Ensure all food preparation, storage, and service areas remain clean and organized
  • Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Clean and sanitize countertops, cutting boards, food prep surfaces, and kitchen equipment
  • Maintain floors, food preparation areas, and storage areas according to sanitation standards
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
  • Properly store food items following food safety and rotation procedures (FIFO)
  • Maintain clean and organized refrigeration, freezer, and dry storage areas
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service in the deli or food service area
  • Support team members to ensure smooth kitchen and store operations


Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food service, deli, restaurant, or kitchen roles preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards is a plus
  • Strong attention to cleanliness and food preparation standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced food service environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to provide friendly and professional customer service

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • In-person role within a convenience store deli or quick-service kitchen environment
  • Shifts may include early morning, evening, overnight, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift
  • Ability to lift 35–50 pounds
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and cleaning tasks
  • Exposure to kitchen equipment, food preparation tools, and cleaning chemicals
