Loan Officer — Non-QM

Defy Mortgage | Nashville, TN (remote okay)

Full-time, commission-based

Who we are

  • We started Defy in 2023, when rates had doubled and most of the industry retreated. We went the other way — we bet on Non-QM. Self-employed borrowers, real estate investors, entrepreneurs. We were right. Defy is a direct lender purpose-built for Non-QM loans only. No conforming, no FHA. One box, done exceptionally well.


The role

  • A traditional, self-sourced, producing loan officer. You build and own your book. You originate and structure with in-house processing behind you and direct access to leadership. And, we also provide inbound lead opportunites.


What you'll do

  • Source your own production through referral relationships and your network — this is not an inbound/call-center seat
  • Structure Non-QM deals: DSCR, bank statement, foreign national, asset depletion, etc
  • Own borrower and referral-partner relationships end to end
  • Work directly with our processing team to keep files moving and closings on time


What you bring

  • 2+ years originating Non-QM loans
  • A self-sourced book or a real plan to build one
