Job description

Position Overview

The Defensive Assistant strengthens defensive preparation by managing team video workflows, analyzing opponent film, and contributing to weekly game planning. They also provide hands-on coaching support during practice drills and execute assigned strategic duties during games. This person will be the assistant to the defensive coordinator. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with all aspects of the football program

  • Support coaches during practice and perform assigned game day responsibilities

  • Assist the Video Coordinator with filming, uploading, and organization practice and game footage

  • Complete the opponent film breakdowns and maintain video databases

  • Assist the defensive coaching staff with opponent scouting and game planning

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the coaching staff
     

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Organizational skills; ability to multi-task/manage several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines

  • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, strategic-thinking skills; willingness to learn and take initiative

  • Proven ability to work autonomously, collaboratively, and within a team structure

  • Proficiency in office software systems such as: MS Word, Office, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Desired candidate will have outstanding verbal communication skills and be able to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and other athletics staff.
