Job description

Dynapower, Part of Sensata Technologies, is seeking a Software Engineer, Industrial Controls & Defense specializing in real-time NI Linux and LabVIEW development platform for development, integration, and validation of deterministic control and monitoring software for mission critical military applications across land, sea, and air platforms. This role focuses on delivering high reliability applications that comply with stringent military specifications, including environmental, cybersecurity, and performance standards required across multiple MIL standards and specific SOW shalls.
The engineer designs and implements software architectures on NI real-time hardware platforms, leveraging LabVIEW for rapid development, hardware in the loop testing, and automated system verification. A key responsibility includes generating and maintaining comprehensive software documentation requirements, design artifacts, interface control documents, test procedures, verification reports, and configuration records to ensure full compliance with applicable military standards and formal review processes.
The position emphasizes rigorous adherence to military quality and reliability requirements, including disciplined configuration management and structured software lifecycle documentation. The engineer supports deployment, troubleshooting, testing, test documentation and long term sustainment of installed systems.

General Responsibilities
Collaborates with developing complex software in selected languages for Sensata products and/or applications consistently following Sensata's coding standards and in accordance with applicable software development methodology and release processes
Key participant in the development of software to control external hardware for automated test equipment and other applicable development
Organizes software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process
Creates and executes designs for small sets of new functionality as part of a software project
Organizes participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions


Experience / Qualifications
A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop real time control and monitoring software on NI Linux RT platforms using LabVIEW.

  • Support SDRL development and submittals for required software deliverables.

  • Participate in PDR and CDR design reviews with the Navy and Shipbuilders.

  • Perform hardware in the loop testing and integrate software with NI real-time hardware and I/O modules.

  • Ensure software artifacts meet applicable military and naval standards for documentation, quality, and review.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing real-time applications on NI Linux RT platforms (cRIO, sbRIO, or similar).

  • Proficiency in LabVIEW, including Real-Time and FPGA modules.

  • Strong understanding of deterministic software design, embedded systems, and hardware/software integration.

  • Familiarity with military and naval standards for software, documentation, testing, and environmental qualification.

  • Background in communication protocols and network interfaces including Ethernet, CAN Bus, RS-485, and RS-232.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices relevant to embedded and real-time Linux systems.

  • Previous experience developing software for U.S. military applications; MIL-E-917E experience preferred.

  • Experience supporting Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) milestones.

  • Proficiency in C/C++ and experience with object-oriented languages such as C#, Python, or Java.

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Base Salary Range:

$115,620- $173,440 USD Annual
