Job description

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century's most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril's family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The LatticeOS Team builds the foundational software-defined operating system that powers our family of autonomous systems, sensors, and third-party integrations. Our work spans edge devices, robotic platforms, and cloud infrastructure, creating a unified operating environment for system orchestration, secure data distribution, and real-time execution. As a core engineering capability, LatticeOS directly enables mission-critical operations across all domains, powering both internal products and external developer partners integrating through the Lattice SDK. Our solutions are designed for real-world deployment in the most demanding operational environments, where reliable middleware, high availability, and seamless hardware-software integration make the difference between mission success and failure.
ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the LatticeOS team, where you will design and develop the core platform services, middleware, and operating system components running onboard autonomous vehicles and edge devices. You will collaborate closely with hardware, autonomy, and application teams to create a highly reliable, performant, and secure platform that abstracts complex hardware and networking into clean software interfaces. If you are someone who is self-motivated, holds yourself to high standards, and thrives in a low-structure, high-autonomy environment, then this role is for you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Design and implement core components and middleware for LatticeOS running onboard autonomous vehicles and edge devices.
  • Develop robust, fault-tolerant distributed systems that can operate reliably over denied, degraded, or intermittent communications links.
  • Create interfaces, APIs, and tooling that enable internal teams and third-party partners to integrate seamlessly with LatticeOS through the Lattice SDK.
  • Collaborate with autonomy and hardware teams to ensure diverse physical platforms can reliably run and interact with the core operating system.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on systems programming, distributed systems, or robotics.
  • Deep experience with C++, Rust, or similar systems programming languages.
  • Proficiency with protocol design, serialization, and implementation (e.g., gRPC, Protobuf, Zenoh, DDS).
  • Experience building software solutions involving high-throughput data processing, transport, or system orchestration.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work across multiple cross-functional engineering teams.
  • A desire to work on critical infrastructure software that has a real-world impact.
  • US Persons: Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience developing operating systems, middleware, SDKs, or developer platforms.
  • Background in developing systems for defense, aerospace, robotics, or other mission-critical applications.
  • Familiarity with software development for embedded systems, Linux internals, or resource-constrained environments.
  • Strong understanding of distributed communication networks, routing, and modern messaging standards.
