Job description

Location: Mukilteo, WA 

Pacific Defense is designed to support the DoD's disciplined movement to modular open standards. The company's approach inherently enables what it refers to as a rapid prototyping paradigm - embedding a commercial mentality into the defense industry. Products are designed from the outset for modern, AI-driven autonomy and CMOSS and SOSA-aligned hardware and software solutions. This includes state-of-the-art processing that can readily follow the evolution of commercial technology with complete data sharing across networks and platforms. 

We are looking to hire an Embedded Software Engineer who wants to get involved with a small, fast-paced, and dynamic company. Responsible for managing, maintaining, and advancing the state of the art in embedded software components on SDR systems.

Requirements

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Be responsible for the development of new features on our embedded platforms.
  • Investigate, prototype, and deliver new and innovative system solutions.
  • Design, develop and verify firmware and drivers for embedded systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, API development, and documentation.
  • Work with new technologies that are vital to product development.
  • Perform tasks including debug, bring-up, Beta and production software development.
  • Successfully collaborate with both software and hardware product teams.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Appropriate level of experience as an embedded software engineer writing C and C++ user space applications.
  • Experience in design, development, and debugging applications on ARM/ARM 64 architecture.
  • Experience developing application software that interfaces with FPGAs, sensors, and other embedded hardware.
  • Experience in writing well-documented code in a collaborative, team-centric environment.
  • Experience applying Computer Science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of networking concepts and technologies, such as TCP/IP, UDP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), security protocols (SSL, TLS), timing protocols (PTP, NTP), VLANs, and VPN.
  • Familiarity with laboratory debugging and test equipment, such as oscilloscope, logic analyzer, signal analyzer, signal generator.
  • Cyber security knowledge and experience
  • Experience with assured PNT systems, including Kalman filters, precision timing, sensor fusion, anti-jam antennas, or PNT client integration.
  • Experience with RF or SDR technology.
  • Experience with Electronic Warfare (EW) systems and/or technology.
  • Active security clearance.

Education

  • BS EE/CS or related field
