Job description

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions develops and fields transformative, affordable technology, platforms, and systems for United States National Security related customers, allies, and commercial enterprises.  We proactively build trusted relationships with our peers, partners and customers, and take ownership for our actions—always striving to do the right thing. As part of the OpenSpace development team, the Software Engineer will be a valuable contributor to a web-based full-stack Agile Development Team with responsibilities that include:  

  • Develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for enhancements and new products.
  • Develops unit-level tests that ensure work product is of high quality
  • Authors software documentation for both internal and customer use
  • Reviews peer contributions as part of code reviews

  • 5+ years of relevant programming experience
  • Software development in Java
  • General knowledge with Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Experience with RESTful services
  • Basic understanding of web-based technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScirpt)
  • Build pipeline automation and packaging using tools such as Bamboo
  • General cloud knowledge with AWS or Azure
  • Familiarity with working in a SAFe Agile environment using Atlassian suite of tools such as Jira and Confluence or other similar collaboration tools

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Expert software development experience in Java, C, and C++
  • Experience with multi-threaded or realtime applications
  • Experience with QuestDB
  • Experience developing unit tests with tools such as SonarQube or other code coverage tools
  • Expert knowledge with Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher
  • Secure software development experience and implementation of best practices
  • Experience with Satellite Command and Control systems
