Job description

Washington County Behavioral Health Division within Health and Human Services Department is seeking a collaborative, results-driven Aid and Assist Program Coordinator to join our Forensic team. In this role, you will develop and monitor program services for individuals found unable to aid and assist in criminal court proceedings. Serving as a crucial bridge between systems, you will work to establish viable community alternatives to the jail and State Hospital.

We are looking for a true team player and skilled diplomat who can navigate complex stakeholder relationships, build consensus across agencies, and take total ownership of projects from concept to completion.

The Program Coordinator oversees the daily administration of our Competency Restoration Program, serving as the primary operational and strategic bridge between the mental health system and the criminal courts. In this role, you will develop and monitor local Community Restoration (Aid & Assist) services to provide effective, community-based alternatives to the Oregon State Hospital.

What You’ll Do:
  • Program Administration & Team Leadership: Manage daily program operations, systematically review incoming court orders, and assign and guide case-related duties for program staff to ensure rapid, compliant follow-through.
  • System Liaison & Bridge-Building: Serve as the central point of contact and representative to the State Court, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), the Oregon State Hospital (OSH), defense and prosecuting attorneys, and community treatment providers.
  • Service Coordination & Compliance: Ensure court-mandated competency restoration services are delivered effectively in community and carceral settings, aligning daily workflows with Oregon Aid & Assist statutes (ORS 161.370) and related administrative rules.
