Job description

A Florida stablished law firm is seeking experienced Insurance Defense Legal Assistant for its Jacksonville office. Applicants should have 2+ years of experience, be a self-starter, have excellent communication skills, and be well organized to join our fast-growing team. Insurance defense experience recommended.
Duties:
  • Organizes cases by establishing and organizing files; establishing calendars; expediting requirements and deadlines; documenting actions.
  • Scheduling depositions; preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel's scheduling requests; coordinating hearing and depositions and processing of pleadings and correspondence and use of the e-filing portal.
  • Preparation of exhibits and correspondence; scheduling mediation conferences and hearings; drafting pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses from opposing counsel; initiating and maintaining contact with adjusters and opposing counsel.
  • Helps clients by initiating and maintaining contact; preparing clients to answer discovery and keeping clients informed of case status.
  • Accomplishes law firm mission by completing other duties as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products.
  • Working knowledge of Case Management software experience a plus (Time Matters and Juris Suite a plus)
  • Organizational skills
  • Time management and planning skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Detail oriented
  • Must be dependable
  • Able to keep cases and client matters confidential
  • Must have reliable transportation
