In our Navigation & Sensor Systems, Test Engineering team located at our state-of-the-art facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa that opened in 2022. Here you'll have the opportunity to design, develop, and implement innovative test solutions for critical GPS receivers and sensor systems. Our Navigation & Sensor Systems team delivers flexible, efficient, and highly reliable navigation and guidance solutions for a diverse range of applications - from airborne systems and precision guided munitions to handheld receivers and embedded. This Test Engineering team is responsible for developing automated electronic test solutions for functional and environmental tests. This team resolves complex test challenges through high communication and innovative thinking with Design Engineering and Operations.
What you'll do: This role is primarily focused on hardware design, with opportunities to evolve into a multifaceted engineer, designing hardware test solutions and developing test software for testing our Navigation & Sensor Systems products.
Develop:
  • Innovative test systems, encompassing both hardware and software solutions, to validate operation of GPS receivers, anti-jam systems, and various other navigation products.
  • Test solutions for Design Engineering and Operations for functional and environmental testing (thermal, vibration) to ensure product performance and resilience.
Design:
  • Detailed schematics, Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs), Interface Test Adapters (ITAs), custom cables, and comprehensive test solutions using digital engineering modeling principles.
Integration:
  • Integrate and troubleshoot test solutions that may contain digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, and PXI Hardware.
  • Support software integration communications for JTAG, ethernet, serial, USB, GPIB, CAN interfaces and instruments.
Collaboration & Support: Provide technical guidance and support to Operations and Design Engineering teams, resolving complex test-related issues.
Influence & Growth: Contribute to the development of engineering program proposals and estimates, playing a key role in shaping the future of our test engineering architecture.
We are seeking a motivated engineer who is eager to exceed expectations and deliver exceptional results.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Proven experience in electronic hardware design, including creating schematics and circuit cards.
  • Microsoft Visual Studio C#/C++ software development experience.
  • Experience with automated test solution development.
  • Experience with these tools: schematic design software, Cameo/MagicDraw, Asset ScanWorks, NI TestStand, ASIC/FPGA development tools and microprocessor development environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences through written and verbal means.
  • A proactive and improvement-focused ability to leverage experience and analyze existing test solutions to optimize future test solutions.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely

Required Skills and Education
  • Must have 10+ years of Engineering Experience
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline
  • Be capable of hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Must be capable of obtaining a U.S. DoW Secret security clearance

Preferred Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering
  • 5+ Years experience working as a Test Engineer
  • 10+ years experience working in electronics/electrical design and/or test
  • Design experience with schematic capture tools
  • Working knowledge of EM/circuit simulation tools
  • Understanding of object oriented software design principals
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner and produce detailed, clear and concise technical documentation
