Job Description
The Vice President of Corporate Communications serves as a strategic advisor to the executive leadership team and leads all internal, external, and public affairs communications for the organization. This role is responsible for shaping and protecting the company’s reputation across government, industry, and public stakeholders; supporting growth in government contracting and regulated environments; and ensuring all communications align with business objectives, contractual obligations, and organizational values.
Responsibilities
- Corporate & Executive Communications
- Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communications strategy aligned with company goals and long‑term growth initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to executive leadership and the board.
- Oversee executive communications including speeches, talking points, presentations, announcements, and leadership messaging.
- Ensure consistent, accurate, and strategic messaging across all corporate channels.
Government Contracting & Public Affairs
- Lead public affairs and strategic communications supporting government contracting, defense, and regulated programs.
- Ensure communications related to federal programs, contract awards, and mission‑critical initiatives comply with contractual, regulatory, and public‑sector requirements.
- Serve as senior communications partner to leadership for interactions with government customers, partners, and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate closely with legal, compliance, security, and program leadership to manage controlled or sensitive communications.
Media Relations & Reputation Management
- Oversee media relations with an understanding of public‑sector sensitivities and information‑release constraints.
- Develop proactive thought leadership and messaging strategies that reinforce credibility with government, industry, and public audiences.
- Lead crisis communications and issues management, including response planning for high‑visibility or high‑risk situations.
- Protect and strengthen the organization’s corporate reputation across all platforms.
Internal Communications
- Oversee internal communications to ensure employees receive timely, clear, and mission‑aligned information.
- Guide leadership communications during organizational change, contract transitions, and major initiatives.
- Reinforce compliance, security awareness, and cultural alignment through effective internal messaging.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the corporate communications and public affairs team.
- Manage external agencies, consultants, and media partners as needed.
- Establish governance, processes, and standards to ensure high‑quality communications across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or public affairs.
- Proven experience partnering with executive leadership and managing enterprise‑level communications.
- Demonstrated expertise in executive communications, media relations, and strategic messaging.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or high‑impact information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting government contractors, defense organizations, or highly regulated environments.
- Background in public affairs, government stakeholder engagement, or strategic communications.
- Experience coordinating communications across legal, compliance, security, and program teams.
- Familiarity with crisis communications, reputational risk management, and high‑visibility initiatives.
