Job description

Position Title: Preconstruction Associate

Department: Preconstruction/Estimating

Work Hours: Monday- Friday 7:30-4PM

Summary: Preconstruction Associates are primarily responsible for providing accurate take-offs to Estimators and Project Managers utilizing various Dee Cramer estimating resources. Competency in reviewing and interpretating Construction Plans and Specifications is a core skillset. Preconstruction Associates will also be responsible for tracking and compiling data pertinent to Dee Cramer Preconstruction analytics.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor and manage project-based communication and project metrics on Bid Board.

  • Support Dee Cramer Design & VDC teams as required, including but not limited to: Project BIM Setup, HVAC System Design, Various Drafting & Modelling tasks.

  • Perform Document Controls for Pre-Con & Estimating projects to DCI Standards.

  • Review Plans and Specifications for projects to bid and review scope of work.

  • Provide accurate take-off as required for each project and collaborate with the Estimator to finalize project Bid.

  • Provide accurate take-off as required for any Bulletins, Change Request, Field Orders, etc. on existing projects as requested by Project Managers or Estimators.

  • Coordinate between estimating, engineering and VDC teams to ensure alignment.

  • Assist in process improvement initiatives.

  • Prepare Awarded Projects for turnover to Dee Cramer Operations Team

  • Regular maintenance and complete ownership of the Historical Tracking Spreadsheet. Collaborate with Contract Administrator and Project Coordinators to maintain current and accurate information across departments.

  • Support Balance division with document markups as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Familiarity with mechanical estimating
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud/Forma
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit, and/or Autodesk MEP Suite
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in both estimating and design domains

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of mechanical construction design or estimating support experience
  • In lieu of design/estimating experience, previous work history with a HVAC contractor or Associates Degree in HVAC
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
