Job description

We are looking for experienced Set Painters to join our client’s team on a contract basis in Orlando, FL. The ideal candidate has experience with spray guns and decorative painting techniques and is comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment.
Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM start time
Pay Rate: $19.00–$20.00 per hour
Responsibilities
  • Apply paint and specialty finishes to scenic elements, sets, props, and other fabricated pieces.
  • Operate HVLP spray guns and apply water-based and urethane paints.
  • Create decorative faux finishes, including:
    • Wood graining
    • Marbleizing
    • Aging
    • Sponging
    • Rag rolling
  • Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, cleaning, masking, and priming.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow shop safety standards and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work efficiently to meet project deadlines while maintaining quality standards.

Qualifications
  • Required: Experience using spray guns (HVLP).
  • Experience with water-based and urethane paint systems.
  • Proven experience creating faux finishes such as wood graining, marbleizing, aging, sponging, and rag rolling.
  • Knowledge of finishing techniques and color theory.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE while painting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
  • Understanding of shop safety standards and procedures.
