Job description

  • Build the platform API alongside the squad lead, owning endpoints, contracts, and extraction work
  • Build internal tooling and frontends for vocabulary mapping, data quality, hospital onboarding, and operational views
  • Own platform subsystems end to end, including ingestion pipelines, sync reliability, and normalization
  • Perform framework and dependency upgrades, developer tooling, and CI improvements
  • Diagnose loosely specified production problems and implement durable fixes
  • Maintain correctness and observability as the platform gains new consumers
  • Pair with the engineer who built the sync and normalization systems and take ownership of a production pipeline, including its on-call
  • Ship platform API or internal tooling work and own a platform surface used by other teams
Requirements
  • Current development skills with Ruby on Rails and Sidekiq on AWS, including ECS and Aurora PostgreSQL, with a TypeScript frontend
  • Backend fundamentals including queues, retries, transactions, and related failure modes
  • Deep SQL and relational data modeling skills, including checking query plans
  • End-to-end ownership of production systems, including on-call responsibilities
  • Patient, methodical debugging approach and comfort working in logs
  • Experience using coding agents and spec-driven development as part of AI-assisted development
