What is a dealership?

Dealerships are businesses authorized to sell new or used vehicles, such as cars, trucks, or motorcycles, on behalf of manufacturers or other sellers. They often provide additional services like financing, warranty repairs, and routine maintenance. Dealerships act as the primary point of contact between customers and vehicle manufacturers, helping buyers choose, purchase, and maintain their vehicles. They may specialize in specific brands or offer a range of different makes and models.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a car dealership salesperson, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Car Dealership Salesperson, you need strong sales acumen, product knowledge, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, point-of-sale systems, and dealership inventory tools is essential. Exceptional communication, negotiation skills, and a customer-oriented mindset help build trust and close deals. These skills are crucial for meeting sales targets, ensuring customer satisfaction, and fostering repeat business in a competitive retail environment.

What are some common challenges faced by employees working at a car dealership, and how can they be overcome?

Employees at car dealerships often face challenges such as meeting sales targets, staying updated on product knowledge, and effectively handling customer objections. To overcome these, it's important to engage in ongoing training, actively participate in team meetings, and seek mentorship from experienced colleagues. Building strong relationships with customers and maintaining a positive attitude can also help turn challenges into opportunities for growth and success.

Job description

Marketing Operations & Communications Manager

About sMedia

sMedia is a digital advertising and SEO provider specializing in helping automotive dealerships boost their sales, maximize marketing efficiencies, and grow their market share. We integrate advanced technology with hands-on support to deliver dynamic, inventory-specific advertising solutions tailored exclusively to each dealership's needs.

We ground our partnerships in data, real results, and our core values: Growth, Reliability, Transparency, and Curiosity. We are looking for an accountable, strategic team member who is passionate about digital advertising and automotive retail, and who thrives on building trusting, long-term industry relationships that drive growth for everyone.

Role Overview

The Marketing Operations & Communication Manager serves as the architect and builder for sMedia's B2B marketing engine. This role is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of relationship-driven content and growth-enablement assets, ensuring that every touchpoint in the prospect and partner journey reinforces sMedia's position as a definitive thought leader in automotive digital marketing.

This position bridges strategic planning with hands-on technical execution. Working closely with executive leadership, you will translate the corporate roadmap into highly accurate product collateral, email marketing campaigns, educational webinars, and web content. A critical demand of this role is absolute precision: ensuring all messaging adheres strictly to sMedia's brand voice guidelines and that all product descriptions reflect our exact technical mechanics. By leveraging comprehensive CRM analytics and website performance data, you will continuously optimize campaign performance to fuel our sales engine without requiring extensive managerial oversight.

  • Reporting to: Head of Growth
  • Key Collaboration Partners: Manager of Customer Growth, Market Development Lead, and Customer Success Teams.

Your Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Campaign Implementation & Execution (40% Focus)

  • Directly support the Market Development Lead by architecting relationship-driven content that builds trust with high-value prospects. This includes building, launching, and managing B2B marketing campaigns across email networks, HubSpot workflows, sMedia web properties, and corporate social channels, ensuring every asset facilitates a consultative sales approach.
  • Provide Customer Success teams with high-impact growth-enablement assets and automated nurture workflows designed to deepen existing dealership relationships and identify expansion opportunities within the current partner base.
  • Work with the Market Development Lead to draft, structure, and finalize authoritative webinar presentations and slide decks that focus on tangible dealer benefits, such as optimizing inventory turn rates to save on floor plan interest costs.
  • Organize, upload, and track all multi-departmental marketing requests inside Asana and Google Drive, ensuring cross-functional marketing initiatives launch on time and error-free.

2. Analytical Optimization & Performance Review (35% Focus)

  • Monitor and evaluate HubSpot email performance analytics, tracking delivery rates, engagement metrics, and workflow efficiency to continuously optimize messaging.
  • Routinely analyze website traffic patterns and conversion funnels using Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to evaluate the health of marketing acquisition channels.
  • Draw actionable conclusions from dealership data and competitive market analysis, transforming raw metrics into clear, localized performance benchmarks to leverage across social media, blogs, newsletters, etc.

3. Brand Voice Protection & Product Accuracy (25% Focus)

  • Serve as the primary gatekeeper for the sMedia brand voice. Ensure all deployed content is direct, conversational, and authoritative, entirely free of marketing exaggerations, absolute statements (e.g., "always," "never"), or cliche automotive puns.
  • Maintain a flawless, 100% accurate understanding of sMedia's product mechanics, proprietary features, and pricing tiers. Ensure public-facing copy correctly details how our tools operate.
  • Script, refine, and maintain the organization's internal resource hub, newsletters, and educational case studies, simplifying complex digital concepts for dealers without sacrificing corporate credibility.

Your Background

  • 8+ years of dedicated experience managing B2B digital marketing campaigns, content deployment, and performance execution workflows.
  • 5+ years of direct automotive retail or agency experience. You must thoroughly understand dealership operations, OEM mandates, variables affecting vehicle turn, and the financial relationship between marketing spend and floor plan costs.
  • Proficient experience navigating Google Analytics (GA4) dashboards, CRM (HubSpot) marketing automation, Canva, and Asana project management software.
  • Complete fluency in reading, writing, and speaking professional English with a mastery of business communication standards.

Your Skills and Mindset

  • A driven self-starter who thrives with minimal oversight, taking complete personal accountability for the flawless execution of tasks within established operating guidelines.
  • Highly structured, detail-oriented personality focused on data over vanity metrics, possesses a continuous learning mindset to constantly identify process efficiencies.
  • A gifted translator able to take complex data anomalies, proprietary software scripts, or algorithmic features and translate them into simple, benefit-focused business solutions.
  • Intolerant of low-tier sales copy or vague buzzwords. Passionate about upholding corporate voice alignment and verifying the technical accuracy of corporate publications before deployment.
  • Confident collaborator capable of building positive, professional relationships across Customer Success, Sales, Ad Operations, and executive leadership teams.

Performance Measures & KPIs

  • Achieving a state of content execution where 95% of public-facing communications (blogs, social posts, email campaigns) require zero structural or stylistic revisions by executive leadership prior to deployment.
  • Ensuring that field-facing teams utilize marketing assets in 80% of active deals and demonstrating a clear correlation between marketing-led content engagement and overall sales pipeline velocity.
  • Consistent management of the sMedia content calendar, and execution and publication of social posts, weekly blogs, monthly newsletter, three data-backed benchmarking deliverables quarterly, and 1-2 comprehensive case studies quarterly.
  • Demonstrable performance optimization across HubSpot email communications, measured by steady increases in meaningful conversion actions and click-through metrics on digital assets.
  • Consistent marketing qualified inbound lead generation, scaling towards a target of 15+ MQLs per month.

What You'll Get From sMedia

  • Fully remote role
  • Extensive health and dental benefits package
  • 15 vacation days annually
  • 10 paid sick days available annually
  • Paid day off on your birthday
  • Time built into your work schedule for your professional development
  • Ability to make an impact and be part of a team that values feedback and cross-functional collaboration
