Purpose of Position:


Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monteยฎ, Contadinaยฎ and S&Wยฎ. We are currently seeking a Warehouse Supervisor. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the labeling, storage, inventory control, and warehouse operations functions under the direction of the Warehouse Manager. This role supports achievement of fixed and variable cost targets while ensuring compliance with DMC Foods policies and procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), employee safety standards, quality requirements, food safety systems, and lean manufacturing initiatives. The Warehouse Supervisor provides leadership to warehouse employees to ensure production, labeling, maintenance, and storage goals are achieved safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.


Accountabilities:


Warehouse Operations and Supervision

  • Supervise warehouse employees to achieve labeling, storage, and inventory targets.
  • Direct daily warehouse operations during processing season, including labeling, product storage, and empty can supply.
  • Ensure OEE production goals are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinate and supervise warehouse staffing levels to support operational requirements and budget targets.
  • Maintain effective employee relations to improve motivation, productivity, teamwork, and retention.
  • Promote continuous improvement and lean manufacturing concepts throughout the warehouse operation.
  • Conduct department meetings, safety meetings, and employee communication sessions.
  • Participate in plant committees and other cross-functional activities as assigned.
  • Ensure center-lining occurs on each line to meet OEE and production targets.
  • Review employee timecards for accuracy.
  • Review Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) data and sign off on records.
  • Coordinating with Stock control to ensure proper materials are readily available.
  • Support forklift training program as a trainer/qualified individual.
  • Support safety and annual training programs.
  • Attend DDS meetings to algin on goals for the day.

Inventory and Materials Management

  • Maintain accurate stock control systems and location records for finished goods, packaging materials, maintenance items, and warehouse supplies.
  • Ensure proper inventory levels of labeling materials, maintenance parts, and other warehouse-related items.
  • Participate in annual physical inventories of finished goods and warehouse materials.
  • Ensure labeling production uses the proper materials and packaging specifications according to bills of material.
  • Coordinate recordkeeping between office personnel, line operators, and plant operations to ensure paperwork is complete, accurate, signed, and properly verified.

Equipment and Maintenance

  • Assist in coordinating maintenance activities for warehouse equipment.
  • Ensure warehouse maintenance goals and requirements are achieved.
  • Supervise equipment replacement and installation projects to ensure completion within budget and on schedule.
  • Train employees in the proper use and operation of warehouse equipment and powered industrial vehicles.
  • Utilize CMMS Systems to assist in coordinating maintenance activities for warehouse equipment by creating and supporting Work Orders and planned work.
  • Utilize WMS systems to monitor inventory levels, search for materials, and track progress. (Tracksys, Incorta, BY).

Safety, GMP, and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all Del Monte safety policies, GMPs, environmental requirements, and food safety standards.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained in all applicable safety rules, procedures, and work practices.
  • Enforce safe operation of powered industrial equipment and warehouse machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and company regulations related to warehouse operations, food safety, and employee safety.
  • Promote a culture of safety through training, coaching, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Review Quality tasks/checks.

Food Safety and Quality Responsibilities

  • Ensure product safety through the development, review, and enforcement of company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and corporate food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and enforce company quality standards established by facility, regional, and corporate quality teams.
  • Support plant quality initiatives to maintain product integrity and customer satisfaction.

Lean Manufacturing / Del Monte Production Systems (DMPS)

  • Support, facilitate, and assist with implementation of Del Monte Production Systems (DMPS) and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Encourage employee involvement in continuous improvement activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, improve safety, and lower operating costs.

Minimum Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or GED with 3-5 years in warehouse operations required.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and loss.
  • Knowledge of GMPโ€™s, HACCP, and GFSI programs (BRCGS, SQF).
  • Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety.
  • Ability to distinguish normal/abnormal.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Previous experience in a food-processing or manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Ability to work weekends and/or shift work with a strong work ethic and employment history.
  • A self-motivated individual that can multi-task and lead others.

Preferred:

  • Higher level education in Distribution, Logistics, Inventory Control, Supply Chain preferred; Other degrees maybe considered.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.
