Job description

D.W. Distribution, an SBP brand is currently hiring Production Associates for our Interior division within our Door Fabrication facility in Lancaster, TX. The Production Associate is a fast-paced position whose major responsibility is the assembly of pre-hung door units.  The Production Associate will typically be assigned to one specific operation of the DDF but may be cross-trained and utilized in other areas depending on business needs. The three main operational areas of the DDF include warehouse operations, production operations and post-production packaging operations. 

Essential Functions

  • Performs pre-hung door production tasks as assigned by their supervisors.
  • Maintains a work pace that matches the pace of the assembly line without excessive errors, and without causing delays
  • Safely utilizes machinery as directed
  • Performs accurate measurements to ensure the quality of the product
  • Follows work tickets to ensure the accuracy of the order
  • Utilizes forklifts for the movement of materials within the DDF Plant
  • Receives materials from vendors, ensures the order’s accuracy and properly stores the materials within the warehouse
  • Receives production orders, picks materials need by the production staff, and arranges them in ways that makes order productions efficient
  • Receives special orders from the DeSoto Millwork Branch, and ensures its accuracy
  • Receives the product from the production line
  • Appropriately marks the products for delivery to the customer
  • Utilizes forklifts to allow for the safe transportation of the product from the production line to the staging area
  • Stages the product in a manner that allows for efficient loading and delivery

    Safety

    • Complies with all OSHA safety requirements, work rules and regulations
    • Utilizes proper body mechanics when lifting objects up to 50 pounds, and gets assistance for lifts of greater than 50 pounds
    • Reports unsafe conditions and behaviors to their supervisor
    • Maintains the cleanliness of their work areas

    General/Administrative

    • Supports the company vision and mission, and demonstrates the corporate core values in all professional activities.
    • Complies with all OSHA safety requirements, work rules and regulations.
    • Compiles and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
    • Follows systems and procedures outlined in company manuals.
    • Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
    • All other duties as requested by management.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma

    Knowledge and Experience

      • Minimum of 1-2 years working in an industry involving wood products, cabinetry, construction, millwork or other similar industries.
      • Solid, dependable history of safe, consistent work
      • Experience and certification in forklift operations is highly desirable
      • The ability to do basic math and take measurements is highly desirable.
