Job description

Title: Utility Field Operator- Utility DCS Vacation Relief
Location: Charleston, TN
Salary: $48.34/hr
Schedule: Rotating Schedule
Focus:
Olin Chlor Alkali Products and Vinyls, a division of Olin Corporation, is seeking a Utility Field Operator - Utility DCS Vacation Relief. This position will be located at the Charleston, TN manufacturing site. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation of the plant utilities, hypo scrubbing system, bleach and hydrochloric acid production systems, boilers, secondary treatment, and treated/DI/soft water systems. These openings are in the Utility DCS Boiler House and Utility DCS Compressor building.
Utility Field Operator Essential Functions:
  • Operate and monitor bleach (sodium hypochlorite), hydrochloric acid (HCl), chlorine loading, cooling water, plant air, and chiller systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.
  • Operate and manage the steam and hydrogen systems
  • Operate and manage the secondary wastewater treatment system, adhering to state and federal regulations.
  • Monitor process performance through field inspections, laboratory analyses, environmental sampling, and operating data collection, maintaining accurate records and regulatory compliance.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment issues, perform minor maintenance activities, and support continuous 24-hour plant operations to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance, issue work permits, and coordinate with maintenance teams to safely execute repairs, upgrades, and improvement projects.
  • Respond to process upsets and emergency conditions by operating critical systems, including scrubbers, emergency fans, pumps, valves, and hypochlorite recovery equipment.
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with supervisors, DCS operators, field operators, and support personnel to optimize plant performance and operational efficiency.
  • Uphold Olin's safety, quality, environmental, and operational excellence standards by following plant procedures, supporting ISO 9001/RC14001 requirements, completing required training, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Utility Field Operator Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current or prior certification in one or more C/A Field area is preferred (brine, electrolyzer/evaporator, chlorine, boiler, or compressor utility fields).
  • Effective communication skills are required, including the ability to communicate instructions and information effectively via radio.
  • Must be able to digest and disseminate written information and make numerical calculations sufficiently well to perform assigned general and specific duties and responsibilities.
  • Must have basic computer skills, Microsoft Office experience preferred.
  • Prior Olin experience is required
  • Possess a valid U.S. Driver's license

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • SAP experience preferred
  • DCS operating experience preferred.

Work Conditions and Physical Demand Requirements:
  • Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
  • Must be able to work the schedule(s) specified above as well as overtime, holidays, and weekend as required
  • Must be able to serve in the emergency response/rescue team and respond to HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) with OSHA training
  • Must be able to pass a functional physical test, with or without reasonable accommodations, if offer is received and accepted
  • Must be able to meet the following criteria:
    • Use standard safety equipment and wear all required personal protective equipment including in extreme hot/cold environments
    • Work in confined, tight, or closed-in spaces
    • Climb ladders and stairs through multiple levels, work at heights,
    • Lift hoses, bolt flanges, operate valves and similar equipment as part of a normal job
    • Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
