Job description

HGA is seeking a Project Manager in Shreveport, LA to support client operations by leading a large-scale Distributed Control System (DCS) migration within an active refinery environment. The Project Manager leads the full lifecycle of a Distributed Control System (DCS) migration from Honeywell TDC/Experion to Emerson DeltaV within a live refinery environment. This role is accountable for scope, schedule, budget, risk mitigation, stakeholder alignment, and safe execution of all project phases-from front-end engineering through commissioning and handover. This position requires deep familiarity with refinery operations, control systems integration, and the constraints of brownfield modernization.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Manager leads end-to-end project execution, ensuring alignment with operational goals, safety standards, and overall business objectives. This role is responsible for defining project scope, deliverables, and success criteria while developing and maintaining detailed schedules from planning through completion. The Project Manager oversees budgets and cost control, serves as the primary liaison for vendors and external partners, and proactively identifies and mitigates risks that could impact safety, timelines, or outcomes. They coordinate installation and implementation activities, develop transition plans to minimize operational disruption, and oversee testing, validation, and startup to ensure successful delivery. Additionally, the role requires clear communication with stakeholders, adherence to change management and compliance standards, and delivery of complete documentation and training to support a smooth handover to operations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or related).
  • 7-10+ years of experience in refinery or petrochemical automation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with Honeywell TDC/Experion and/or Emerson DeltaV systems.
  • Proven track record managing large capital projects ($5M-$50M+).
  • Strong understanding of refinery operations, PSM, and instrumentation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and contractor-management skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in process units and lead field execution activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
  • Experience with brownfield DCS migrations or major control system upgrades.
  • Familiarity with SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems) and cybersecurity standards (ISA/IEC 62443).
  • Knowledge of refinery turnaround planning and execution.
  • Advanced skills in scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project).
