Job description

Are you a precision-driven shop mechanic who thrives on tearing down, diagnosing, and rebuilding massive industrial machinery? Flowserve is seeking a skilled Rotating Equipment / Repair Mechanic to join our fast-paced Quick Response Center (QRC) in Pasadena.
In this role, you won't just be turning wrenches-you will own the complete DCI (Dismantle, Clean, and Inspect) lifecycle for heavy industrial centrifugal pumps, electric actuators, and flow-control hardware. You will be the technical heartbeat of our shop, ensuring critical infrastructure components for the Chemical, LNG, and refining corridors are rebuilt to exact manufacturing tolerances.
What You'll Do Daily:
  • Execute Full Overhauls: Perform complete teardown, cleaning, and inspection (DCI) on high-energy overhung process pumps (like the Durco Mark 3) and heavy between-bearings multistage pumps (API 610 BB1-BB5 layouts).
  • Precision Measurement & Testing: Utilize micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers to measure critical fits, clearances, and run-outs down to exact decimal specifications. Document all findings clearly on dimensional evaluation sheets.
  • Advanced Assemblies: Safely use torches, heating induction tools, and liquid nitrogen for interference/shrink fits; operate balancing machines and perform low-pressure air and hydrostatic testing to verify seal integrity.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with applications engineers, machinists, and operations team members to map out custom repair plans and minimize customer downtime.

What We're Looking For:
  • The Experience: 3 to 5+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience overhauling heavy industrial rotating equipment (centrifugal process pumps, high-voltage actuators, or compressors).
  • The Blueprint Skills: Absolute fluency reading mechanical blueprints, cross-sectional drawings, and technical data packages.
  • Tool Ownership: You must own a complete personal set of SAE hand tools, basic precision measurement instruments, and a roll-around toolbox ready for the shop floor.
  • The Mindset: Comfort with heavy shop demands (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods) and a flexible schedule open to overtime or weekend emergency turnarounds when our customers face critical line-down scenarios.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
