Williams International is a privately‑owned company that develops and manufactures jet engines for both military and commercial aircraft applications. We are a company of creators who deliver pioneering ideas and technologies that lead the aerospace industry. Our culture fosters creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning to position our team members to inspire each other and provide quality products and supporting services that exceed the expectations of our customers.

The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for an Accountant (General Ledger) to join our team in Pontiac, MI. The Accountant (General Ledger) will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely month‑end close processes, and supporting financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP and government contracting regulations (FAR/DFARS). This role is vital to a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment, requiring the ability to improve accounting processes, utilize manufacturing ERP systems, and partner with operational teams.

Responsibilities
  • Month‑End Close & Reporting: Support full‑cycle month-end close activities, including preparing complex journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and analyzing income statement fluctuations, as well as supporting the development and maintenance of standardized reporting packages, operational metrics, and management dashboards to support leadership decision‑making.
  • Manufacturing Cost Accounting: Partner with operations to analyze inventory, Work in Process (WIP), overhead absorption, and manufacturing variances to support costing.
  • US GAAP Compliance: Apply GAAP to emerging accounting matters and business transactions.
  • Government Compliance (DCAA/FAR): Ensure accounting records are compliant with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). Segregate direct and indirect costs and monitor allowable vs. unallowable expenses.
  • Audit Support: Coordinate with internal and external auditors, including DCAA auditors, by preparing audit schedules and providing detailed documentation for financial transactions.
  • Process Improvement: Drive efficiency by leveraging AI‑powered accounting tools and automation to streamline close processes and develop KPI dashboards for executive leadership. Participate in establishing scalable processes, workflows, and accounting policies appropriate for sustained growth and increased operational complexity.
  • Adhere to company quality and product safety requirements, as referenced in the existing job documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in general ledger accounting, preferably within the manufacturing or defense industry.
  • Strong proficiency in US GAAP, experience with ERP systems (SAP), advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and familiarity with data visualization tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, growth‑driven environment.
  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus.
  • Experience with DCMA/DCAA or government contract accounting is preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed. Candidates selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. For more information on Security Clearances, please visit: U.S. Department of State.
