Summary


The Vehicle Maintenance C Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and vehicles including gantry cranes, forklifts, Tuckerbilts, end loaders, spotter trucks, and air compressors. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, the ability to read schematics and manuals, and the initiative to work independently with minimal supervision


Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair various operating systems for heavy equipment such as gantry cranes, Tuckerbilts, forklifts, spotter trucks, end loaders, air compressors, and other related machinery
  • Apply knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and DC electrical systems for troubleshooting and repair
  • Use and interpret service and parts manuals, as well as electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Complete assigned work orders and maintenance tasks in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed
  • Perform basic welding and fabrication as needed
  • Work independently while communicating effectively with supervisors and team members
  • Remain on call for after-hours maintenance needs
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or trade school equivalent required
  • Minimum of three years of experience in vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance
  • Strong mechanical and electrical repair skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in fast-paced situations
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have a personal tool set suitable for the position
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English; Spanish speaking highly desirable
  • Willingness to complete third-party training courses as assigned by supervisor

Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs consistently
  • Ability to work in a plant environment with exposure to dust, heat, and varying weather conditions
  • Full-time, typically 40 or more hours per week
  • On-call 24/7 as needed for maintenance support
