Job description

Our Young Global Professionals are an integral part of theย Atlantic Council Turkey Program.ย Most of our work involves an all-hands-on-deck approach that requires interns to actively engage with our events, publications, and strategies. As a result, this position exposes interns to the writing and publishing procedure, logistical elements of event planning, and the process of creating strategic initiatives within a think tank.


Interns work closely with Atlantic Council Turkey Program team to provide important research and logistical support to the Center. They are also encouraged to participate in and attend events hosted by other programs at the Atlantic Council.


The successful candidates will have a passion for the work, an entrepreneurial ethos, and a collegial spirit; they will be an effective communicator; and will enjoy learning and growing in a fast-paced organization. Demonstrated interest in international affairs, especially US-Turkey relations, through classwork and/or experience is preferred.


This position is part-time (~20 hours per week) and based in our Washington, DC, headquarters, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the office. Interns will be compensated at a rate of $18.50 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to support the activities of the Center.ย 
  • Handle logistical elements for program events.ย 
  • Manage program contacts database.ย 
  • Draft formal correspondence to government officials and invitations for events.ย 
  • Follow and track internal and external events and discussions relevant to the program.
  • Track Center media metrics.
  • Assist the Center in promoting publications, events, and press mentions.
  • Candidate must be based in Washington, D.C.
  • Professional-level proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in Turkish is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in digital communications and website management is preferred.
  • Must be at least a college senior in good standing, a graduate student, or a recent graduate, preferably majoring in international affairs, economics, or a related field.
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (out of 4.0) scale, or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution.
  • Must have excellent research, writing, and people skills.
  • Must work well with others and interact professionally with senior officials.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
