What are DBIs?

DBI stands for Database Interface, which typically refers to a set of tools, libraries, or modules that allow software applications to interact with database management systems. In programming, a DBI provides a standardized way for applications to connect to different types of databases, execute queries, and manage transactions. For example, in Perl, DBI is a popular module that serves as a database-independent interface for interacting with various databases. Understanding how to use a DBI is essential for developers who need to work with data storage and retrieval across multiple database platforms.

To thrive as a Database Administrator, you need expertise in database management, data security, and SQL, often supported by a degree in computer science or related certifications like Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate. Familiarity with database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and tools for backup, recovery, and monitoring is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help DBAs manage complex data environments and collaborate with IT teams. These skills are crucial for ensuring data integrity, minimizing downtime, and supporting business operations.

About Us
At DBI Construction Consultants, we are construction experts who specialize in evaluating damaged structures. Our mission is simple: provide clear, independent, and accurate recommendations backed by hard evidence and deep expertise. In a world of uncertainty, we bring our clients clarity and confidence.
Your Role
As a Construction Cost Estimator, you will dive into field and office work - analyzing costs, timelines, and risks while visiting sites to gather real-world data. Your analysis and reports will bring practical knowledge to help our clients move forward.
What You'll Do
  • Assist with site visits to collect measurements, photos, and project details.
  • Support the analysis of labor, materials, and timelines for project estimates.
  • Help track costs and flag differences between projected and actual figures.
  • Learn to prepare professional reports and data entries in estimating tools.
  • Gain exposure to industry software like Xactimate, Bluebeam Revu, and project scheduling tools.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in civil / mechanical / structural engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • Past construction or risk management internship experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication and technical reading skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills; Xactimate/scheduling software experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel (~30%), meet the physical requirements, and work in varied field conditions.

Why DBI
  • Competitive total compensation and clear career advancement opportunities.
  • Learn from experts - gain both field and office experience in a dynamic, engaging role.
  • Sharpen your construction knowledge in a culture that values accuracy, hard work, and teamwork.

Physical Activities and Requirements:
In addition to the working conditions and associated physical activities and requirements above, the incumbent may be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, or feel, especially in the course of investigating and assessing property damage; these requirements may include the need to lift weights of up to 50 pounds, including a ladder, and climb ladders upwards of 30 feet.
The work requires close visual acuity, with or without correction, to prepare reports containing words, symbols, and numerical figures; the incumbent is required to view a computer terminal, use a keyboard, read printed documents, make detailed visual inspections, perceive color, perceive depth, and have a sufficient field of vision to carry out all inspection and related duties.
DBI Construction Consultants is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer. We believe that diversity strengthens our teams and drives innovation, client satisfaction and a strong work culture.
