The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Urgent Care Manager to lead our newly established Urgent Care Clinic working a swing shift schedule of 6:00 PM – 2:00 AM. Day in the Life:

The Urgent Care Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care, outstanding client service, and efficient clinic operations while supporting the organization's mission to improve the lives of pets and the people who love them. The Urgent Care Manager will work closely with veterinary leadership to develop operational strategies, monitor performance metrics, and implement innovative solutions that enhance quality, efficiency, and the overall client experience.

As a leader within the clinic, the Urgent Care Manager will recruit, develop, and support a high-performing team while fostering a culture built on collaboration, accountability, compassion, and excellence. This position provides oversight of staffing, scheduling, employee engagement, performance management, and professional development, ensuring team members have the resources and support needed to succeed.

The ideal candidate will bring strong business acumen and operational expertise, with responsibility for managing clinic budgets, monitoring financial performance, maintaining inventory controls, and ensuring compliance with all applicable veterinary, safety, and regulatory requirements. This individual will also serve as a key representative of the clinic, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, addressing client concerns, and helping drive the continued growth and success of the Arizona Humane Society's veterinary services.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Veterinary Practice Management, Animal Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • CVT or CVMP certification preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of veterinary clinic manager required.
  • A minimum of three years of work experience as an urgent/emergency care technician required.
  • Multi-doctor practice or emergency/urgent care experience preferred.
  • Experience managing budgets, P&Ls, and operational metrics.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DEA requirements.
  • Strong leadership, financial, customer service, and change management skills.
  • Able to speak, read, write and understand English. Spanish language helpful.
  • Above average proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook; able to learn DaySmart, Chameleon, and other software programs as necessary.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, or move items weighing up to 50 pounds, including medical supplies, equipment, or animal-related materials. The ability to hear and communicate effectively in a busy clinic environment is required.

This position is regularly exposed to animals and may encounter animal-related noise, odors, dander, fur, cleaning chemicals, and occasional exposure to wet or slippery surfaces. Work may also involve exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and outdoor conditions while moving between facilities or operational areas.

The majority of work is performed in a climate-controlled office and veterinary clinic environment; however, the employee should be comfortable working in areas where animals are housed, treated, or transported.
