Job description

Production Control Planner
Job Summary:
The Production Control Planner is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategic production plans that align with organizational goals for on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and resource optimization. This role provides analytical and decision-making support to Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain leadership to ensure that production capacity, materials, and schedules are aligned with customer demand and business priorities. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who exercises independent judgment to anticipate constraints, recommend corrective actions, and influence operational planning decisions. This position collaborates cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Contracts, and Finance to ensure optimal performance across programs and projects.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Develop and manage strategic production schedules and capacity plans to meet delivery, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Analyze MRP/ERP data and business forecasts to anticipate material or capacity constraints and make recommendations for resource adjustments.
  • Partner with management to establish production priorities and allocate resources based on contractual requirements, budgets, and timelines.
  • Lead planning meetings with Engineering, Procurement, and Operations to review progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Exercise discretion in adjusting production plans to meet changing priorities, customer needs, or technical constraints.
  • Recommend process improvements and workflow enhancements to improve lead time and reduce cost of production.
  • Develop reports and dashboards for senior leadership to support strategic decision-making and performance tracking.
  • Review and approve work order release strategies and project schedules to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Manage planning parameters and configuration settings within MRP/ERP systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Participate in new product introduction planning, ensuring readiness of materials, processes, and documentation.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior planners and production support staff.
  • Support and maintain compliance with AS9100 and ISO9001 standards through planning and documentation controls.

Required Qualifications and Duties:
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply operational data to make recommendations that impact business outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects.
  • Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems (such as SAP, Epicor, or Oracle).
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in aerospace or electronics manufacturing preferred.
