Job description

The Mission of The Hills Church is to make and grow followers of Jesus. We do this by being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and doing what Jesus did. This mission compels us to engage with people at every stage of the spiritual continuum.

The Kids Minister is to serve as the leader and champion of the Next Gen purpose, vision and strategy.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Spirit Alignment: prayerfully and humbly listen to the Holy Spirit with a discerning and obedient posture inorder to cooperate with the move of God in the next generation. Seeking alignment and unity in common vision, values, strategy, and language.
  • Deep Discipleship: disciple the next generation to encounter God through worship, the Word, wonders, and the development of Christ-centered worldview, leading to a resilient walk with Jesus.
  • Mission Mobilization: Mobilize the next generation to discover and participate in the Mission of God every day, instilling in them a sense of passion and purpose as witnesses of the world who pray, give, and go.
  • Family Engagement: Equip and partner with all families in every circumstance to firmly establish a God -given sense of identity in the next generation through milestones, family experiences, and coaching and cues.
  • Community Elevation & Leader Development: Organize our ministry around small groups of intergenerational relationships to give the next generation a sense of belonging as part of a life -giving faith community by equipping and activating leaders.
  • Oversee ministry environments by creating programs that provide engaging experiences for the discipleship of kids.
  • Lead collaboratively by working and communicating clearly with Next Gen Global Kids Minister and WFD Campus Minister to ensure ongoing alignment.
  • Manage campus needs for childcare. 

 General Ministerial Responsibilities 

  • Hospital visitation, weddings, funerals, prayer response, baptisms, and participation in staff activities.

Skills Required

  • Experience in pastoral ministry and volunteer leadership (multi-site experience a plus).
  • Strong relational, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Alignment with The Hills mission, vision, and core values and a vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus.

Spiritual and Personal qualifications:

  • Committed, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with his teachings
  • Accept and abide by The Hills Church Statement of Faith
  • Active member of The Hills Church or willing to become a member
  • Effective communication and listening skills
  • Love and care for the discipleship of the next generation, especially kids 0-5th grade
  • Team player and team builder who focus on the good of the entire organization by cultivating a healthy, vibrant, life-giving culture.
