Salary: $27.62 hourly

Residential Garbage Truck Driver (Equipment Operator)

This position is open until filled and may close at any time after July 15th, 2026

You must have one year of equipment driving experience with at least six (6) months of verifiable driving experience in a position which requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with valid DOT Medical Card at the time of hire.

As a driver, you'll operate state of the art trucks and be part of a team that provides top notch waste and recycling collection services across Salt Lake County. This a job where every day brings new challenges and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the environment and community.

You will follow a daily assigned route collecting refuse and/or recycling, and transporting the load to the landfill, transfer station, or recycling facility. As a CDL holder you are required keep your equipment clean and in proper working condition, perform pre- and post-shift inspections, keep loads within legal limits and follow all applicable laws and regulations.


This position requires a full range of motion in the shoulders, arms, hands, wrists, legs, and feet. A driver must be able to push, pull, or lift up to 100 pounds as necessary to ensure route is complete and free of debris, and exhibit manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. In this position you will sit for extended periods while exposed to traffic hazards, inclement weather, noise, dust, fumes, grease, and potentially unsanitary conditions; the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory. You must be able to climb into and out of equipment on a regular basis.
