Job description

Job Title: Slitter Operator
Location: San Carlos, Ca
Hours: 1:00pm -9:30pm
Department: Manufacturing / Production
Pay Rate: $20.00 – $25.00 / hour
Position Type: Full-Time, On-site
About the Role

We are seeking a skilled, precision-minded Slitter Operator to set up and run roll-to-roll converting machinery. In this role, you will handle precision cutting, web tension control, and continuous material inspection to produce high-quality rolled materials. If you have solid mechanical aptitude, take pride in tight-tolerance accuracy, and prioritize safety around continuous blades and heavy machinery, this role offers a great opportunity on our production floor.
Top Requirements

  • Roll-to-Roll / Converting Expertise: Direct experience operating slitting or roll-to-roll converting equipment, including hands-on knowledge of web handling and tension control (strongly preferred over basic assembly or general machine operating).
  • High Precision & Detail Orientation: Strict focus on maintaining exact width tolerances and edge quality, as small setup mistakes can result in costly roll scrap.
  • Strict Safety Discipline: Complete commitment to safety protocols—specifically Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), blade handling safety, machine guarding, and proper PPE use.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate slitting machinery to process roll-stock material into specified widths and lengths per production specifications.
  • Safely load and unload heavy material rolls; set up blades/knives and adjust line tension for optimal feed.
  • Perform first-piece and ongoing in-process inspections (verifying width, edge quality, and winding tension) against job prints and specs.
  • Continuously monitor material during runs for defects, telescoping, or edge wear to prevent scrapped product.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, including changing and sharpening blades.
  • Accurately track shift data including production output, scrap rates, and equipment downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and adhere strictly to all safety and LOTO procedures at all times.
Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years of experience operating slitting, rewinding, or web-handling machinery preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using precision measurement tools (calipers, tape measures, micrometers).
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, and position heavy material rolls safely.
  • Strong mathematical skills for measuring tolerances and tracking material yields.
