Powder Coater
Job Type: Full-Time
Department: Production / Manufacturing
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Job Summary
The Powder Coater is responsible for preparing, coating, curing, and inspecting metal parts and products using powder-coating equipment. This position requires attention to detail, consistent quality, safe work practices, and the ability to work efficiently in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, sanding, masking, and/or blasting as required.
  • Operate powder-coating spray guns, ovens, booths, and related equipment.
  • Apply powder coating evenly and according to job specifications.
  • Set and adjust coating equipment for proper coverage, thickness, and color.
  • Load and unload parts from racks, conveyors, and curing ovens.
  • Inspect finished products for proper coverage, color, texture, adhesion, and defects.
  • Correct or rework parts that do not meet quality standards.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and coating equipment.
  • Follow production schedules and meet quality and productivity requirements.
  • Properly handle and store powder-coating materials and chemicals.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of PPE.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of powder-coating equipment.
  • Communicate production issues, equipment problems, and quality concerns to supervisors.
Qualifications
  • Previous powder-coating experience preferred but not required.
  • Manufacturing or painting experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and job specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Ability to lift and move materials as required.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, reach, stoop, and handle materials.
  • Lift and move parts and equipment within the limits established by the company.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, and powder-coating materials.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators when applicable.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with electrostatic powder-coating equipment.
  • Knowledge of powder-coating application and curing processes.
  • Experience with color changes and coating thickness control.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working from production drawings or work orders.
