Coordinator of Liturgy and Music St. Bernard Parish Green Bay
Position Summary: The Coordinator of Liturgy and Music is responsible for collaborating with clergy, staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and musicians to plan and execute parish liturgies and music. Create a dynamic and inspiring worship community, especially through a music ministry program, for the parish community. The Coordinator of Music and Liturgy will support the gospel message through song and challenge the assembly to live it more fully. The music ministry should stir the soul and inspire people to a great faith, hope and love in Jesus Christ. This role requires the ability to work in a Catholic environment of kindness, compassion, respect, integrity, mutual charity, and dignity.
Knowledge, Skills amp; Abilities:
Knowledge
Requires a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree in music and/or music education is preferred.
Must be a practicing Catholic, a member in good standing of a Catholic parish.
Thorough knowledge of and commitment to the Roman Catholic liturgical norms of the church; familiarity with sacred music and it’s appropriate use.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Catholic-ecclesial life and structure, along with knowledge of church organization and operational procedures.
Skills
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Must possess the skills necessary to implement large program wide events.
Proficient in playing piano.
Proficient at sight reading.
Experience in training a choir.
Strong singer with solid vocal performance skills.
Abilities
Organize, motivate, and sustain volunteers in the liturgical ministry.
Lead and form choirs of parishioners that have various degrees of proficiency in music.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the mission of St. Bernard Parish
Participate as a member of the parish team in planning and decision-making and leadership team meetings.
Perform duties within a predefined budget.
Collaborates with parish staff and integrates music into parish ministries as applicable.
Be a resource person to parish staff on issues related to liturgy, music, and discipleship.
Continues spiritual and professional development and renewal.
Perform related work as required.

Liturgy
Write petitions every week and for Holy days.
Seasonally update the liturgy of the Word Presiders notes and send them out.
Arrange for priest coverages and reconciliations as needed for liturgy department.
Order supplies as necessary including books for Mass amp; Choir.
Recruit, train, supervise and schedule, in a timely manner, all lay ministers required for liturgies, services, and devotions. This includes Lectors, Ushers, Alter servers, Sacristans, Cantors and Musicians.
Train and manage liturgical ministers as necessary, as well as overseeing the training program for all ministries.
Supply information to create worship aids as necessary for funerals and Holy Hour.
Plan and coordinate the seasonal decorations for church and narthex for Christmas, Easter and etc. This includes the ordering of any flowers, plants or materials needed for decorating.
Serve as liturgy resource person for the school and religious education, time permitting.

Music
Plan and play music for weekday Masses as desired by Pastor.
Schedule and manage all Musicians.
Coordinate Stations of the Cross, Holy Days, and wedding music, while ensuring the license and recording guidelines are being met.
Serve as Sound Technician/Technology person for the parish. This includes maintenance and operation of all equipment used in church.
Keep reprint and streaming licenses up to date and file the required reports to the licensing companies.
Maintain all instruments used in church. Includes tuning the piano.
Create worship aids/programs/song sheets for weekend and holy day liturgies as well as reconciliation services and any other celebrations as needed.
Direct choir and/or choral groups for Saturday/Sunday Liturgies and special celebrations.
In accordance with the liturgical calendar and special service themes, plan the music program for weekend and holy day liturgies; as well as First Eucharist, Reconciliation, Confirmation and other scheduled prayer or devotional services as needed. Work with the Pastoral Associate as a resource person for the planning of funerals.

Physical/Visual/Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to handle objects, reach with hands and arms; and talk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
Typical Working Conditions:
Person in this position will work in an inside office environment; would work alone at times and frequently with a group; normal hours would be 40 hours per week with a flexible schedule. Some weekend hours.
Nature of Supervision Received:
Receives minimal supervision. Incumbent must establish priorities and independently set daily objectives to meet deadlines and address urgent situations as they occur.
Judgment Exercised/Decisions Made:
Considerable judgment and independent decision making is required regarding compliance to policies. Decisions are moderately complex. Requires ability to thoroughly investigate and analyze problems and recommend the proper course of action. Judgment and tact must be used in communication of policies and procedures.
