In line with our growth and the expansion of our services, we are on the lookout for a detail-oriented and experienced Infrastructure Deployment Engineer to strengthen our team.
Position Summary:
The Infrastructure Deployment Engineer is essential in planning, coordinating, and executing the physical deployment of infrastructure within our high-performance computing data centers. This role encompasses comprehensive pre-deployment planning, hands-on oversight of rack and stack operations, and meticulous documentation of as-built configurations. The successful applicant will collaborate closely with NVIDIA, OEMs, contractors, facilities teams, and Network Engineers to ensure seamless infrastructure deployments that meet exacting standards for performance and reliability. This position requires regular travel to Data Centers located within the US to oversee deployment activities and coordinate with on-site personnel.
Work Arrangement & Location:
Remote with required travel
Heavy travel - 50%-75% travel (nationwide)
Work rotation model is similar to oil rig rules. Examples of schedule:
30 days on / 21 days off
14 days on / 10 days off
States of Preference: ME, NH, NJ, GA, FL, IL, MN, WA, TX
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Deployment Planning:
Create and maintain detailed datacenter floor plans and elevation diagrams to optimize space utilization and airflow
Track DC readiness milestones and coordinate with facilities teams to ensure infrastructure prerequisites are met
Participate in planning meetings with NVIDIA, OEMs, and contractors to align on deployment specifications and timelines
Develop Point-to-Point (PTP) diagrams and comprehensive cabling specifications for complex network topologies
Conduct site surveys and readiness assessments prior to equipment delivery
Physical Deployment:
Oversee rack and stack operations, whether executed by internal teams or external contractors, ensuring adherence to design specifications
Verify cabling installations against approved specifications and industry best practices
Coordinate equipment receiving, staging, and inventory management to maintain deployment schedules
Execute commissioning procedures and acceptance testing to validate infrastructure functionality
Document as-built configurations with precision, capturing any deviations from original plans
Ensure proper labeling of equipment, cables, and infrastructure components
Coordination and Project Management:
Work collaboratively with Network Engineering team on BOM requirements and technical specifications
Manage contractor schedules, deliverables, and performance to ensure quality and timeline adherence
Track deployment milestones across multiple concurrent projects and report blockers to leadership
Coordinate logistics between vendors, shipping companies, and data center facilities
Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams to resolve deployment challenges
Conduct handoff meetings with operations teams upon deployment completion
Documentation and Process Improvement:
Maintain comprehensive deployment documentation including diagrams, procedures, and lessons learned
Create and refine deployment runbooks and standard operating procedures
Photograph and document deployment progress for project records
Contribute to continuous improvement of deployment processes and methodologies
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to strict data center safety protocols and operational standards during all deployment activities
Ensure contractors and vendors comply with safety requirements and access policies
Participate in regular safety training and briefings
Maintain awareness of electrical, environmental, and physical safety considerations
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in data center infrastructure deployment, construction management, or a similar role
Strong understanding of data center design principles including power distribution, cooling, and rack layouts
Proficiency in creating technical diagrams using tools such as Visio, AutoCAD, or similar platforms
Hands-on experience with rack and stack operations, structured cabling, and cable management best practices
Knowledge of networking fundamentals and ability to interpret network architecture diagrams
Familiarity with NVIDIA HPC infrastructure and InfiniBand/Ethernet networking topologies preferred
Experience managing contractors and vendors in a technical deployment environment
Understanding of data center standards (TIA-942, ANSI/BICSI) and best practices
Strong project coordination skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent deployments
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy
Proven problem-solving abilities with capacity to adapt to changing requirements and overcome deployment challenges
Strong organizational and time management skills
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Willingness and ability to travel frequently (up to 50-75%) to data center locations across the US
Physical ability to work in data center environments, including lifting equipment and working in confined spaces
