Position Overview
The Senior Submersibles Manager provides technical and operational oversight for subsea cable burial programs executed by third-party installation vessels using plow and ROV systems and reports to the Director of Submersibles. This role ensures burial operations meet SubCom's technical, operational, and contractual standards while coordinating closely with contractor vessel teams, SubCom onboard representatives, and marine coordination groups.
Responsibilities
  • Act as SubCom's technical authority for third-party installation vessels.
  • Review and approve contractor documentation, including MOPs, sea trial plans, spare parts lists, and engineering analyses
  • Oversee audits of third-party submersible systems to confirm compliance with SubCom standards
  • Oversee plow and ROV cable burial operations to meet contractual and performance requirements
  • Ensure post-lay and inspection & burial operations achieve specified burial depth and quality criteria
  • Validate readiness of plow systems, ROV spreads, LARS systems, and all supporting subsea tooling
  • Review burial feasibility, equipment performance estimates, and operational limits
  • Ensure correct execution of cable crossing procedures and marine exclusion-zone controls
  • Support BFS reviews, trial sites, deployment strategies, and readiness checks
  • Manage incident reporting and corrective actions to closure for 3rd party vessels
  • Develop lessons learned, and recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Support planning, scheduling, and third-party labor demand management (LDM)
  • Manage SubCom employees and contractor representatives providing oversight on chartered vessels or SubCom equipment
  • Support SubCom vessels and subsea equipment as necessary

Qualifications
  • Two or 4-year engineering degree or equivalent technical trade
  • Minimum ten years working within the Telecom industry, with seven years of offshore experience preferred
  • Strong leadership background in offshore cable installation, plow burial, and subsea trenching
  • The ability to operate independently and proactively to address issues
  • Strong commercial and financial accumen
  • Good communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe applications
