Senior Director, Epidemiology (Hematology)
Under the general direction of the AVP, Epidemiology, the Senior Director leads management and oversight of epidemiologic activities conducted by the epidemiologists on assigned company assets and indications, with a primary focus on hematology.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for management and scientific oversight of a small team of epidemiologists in hematology supporting multiple assets and indications.
- Provide guidance to team members on planning, design, and execution of epidemiologic studies related to clinical development support, safety and effectiveness, post‑licensure commitments, endpoint strategy, and observational research methodology.
- Review regulatory documents, study protocols, reports, and publications to ensure scientific integrity and alignment with company strategies.
- Make key epidemiologic decisions, be accountable for deliverables, timelines, and study budgets; execute independently.
- Present research plans and results to internal review and governance committees; participate in interactions with regulatory agencies and health authorities.
- Set epidemiology strategy for assets and indications; lead planning, conduct, analysis, and reporting of studies.
- Mentor, recruit, allocate resources, manage performance, and support employee development.
- Contribute to company reputation through publication, presentations, and peer review of scientific journals.
Qualifications
- MA/MS in Epidemiology with at least 8 years of relevant experience; PhD or MD in Epidemiology or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Experience managing people and leading large epidemiologic projects.
- Broad knowledge of epidemiologic approaches in the pharmaceutical/biotech context; record of peer‑reviewed publications.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- 5% travel.
Preferred
- Experience in oncology and hematology epidemiologic studies and biomarker activities.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $190,800 – $300,300. Eligible for annual bonus and long‑term incentive. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement 401(k), paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.

US and Puerto Rico residents only. US and San Francisco residents only. Relocation: Domestic. Travel: 10%. Hybrid work arrangement. No visa sponsorship.
