Job description

Position Summary

The Billing Assistant supports the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) by performing administrative and clerical duties related to billing, claims processing, and collections. This role helps ensure accurate and timely reimbursement by assisting with claim submissions, follow-ups, and payment posting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation, submission, and tracking of insurance claims.
  • Review patient accounts for accuracy and update demographic and insurance information as needed.
  • Post insurance and patient payments accurately into the billing system.
  • Monitor outstanding accounts and assist with follow-up on unpaid or denied claims.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to verify coverage, resolve claim issues, and obtain authorization when needed.
  • Provide support with patient billing inquiries, payment arrangements, and statements.
  • Assist with generating reports on claim status, collections, and account activity.
  • Maintain organized records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
  • Perform general administrative support for the RCM, including data entry, filing, and scanning.


Qualifications

  • Prior experience in medical coding, or RCM support preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) or billing systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with patients, staff, and insurance representatives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
